Big 12 Commissioner Dan Bebbe has been given a three-year contract extension which will keep him at the conference's helm through June 2015, the conference announced Friday.
Beebe's original five-year contract, signed upon his appointment to the post in September 2007, was set to expire in 2012.
"Dan Beebe has been an outstanding leader for the Big 12 Conference during very challenging times, including our transition to 10 teams," said Brady Deaton, chairman of the conference's board of directors and University of Missouri chancellor.
"The board feels that he has performed well beyond his job description under extraordinary conditions."
Beebe us the third commissioner in the conference's 15-year history. He joined the Big 12 in 2003 following a 14-year stint as commissioner of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Beebe said he was honored to continue leading the conference. "The events of the summer have solidified the bond among our membership, and I look forward to addressing the exciting opportunities that await the Big 12 Conference."
The man has to be a fucking magician. Criss Angel is a punk compared to this. David Copperfield never pulled off a trick like this. The man has convinced educated people that the Texas 10 can make more TV money per school without Top 10 Football Program Nebraska and CU (who has won a NC) than they would with them. He has them believing that they are all better off without the conference championship game and the one game that matters each year in played in October. Unbelieveable. I guess the secret was to keep the Big 12 in such a horibble TV deal that everyone is satisfied with the smoke and mirrors Beebe is using to pull this one off.
